Cobalt and copper are crucial minerals for the green energy transition. Worldwide, the DRC is the most crucial provider of these strategic minerals.
Many of these minerals are mined by artisanal miners and PKM Africa is assisting a Congolese company, Sud South, in establishing the certification and traceability of such artisanally-mined minerals, which will enable battery manufacturers to have a trusted source to use in their batteries.
At the same time, this development will improve the future and the living conditions of hundreds of thousands artisanal miners and their families. All this is being set up in close co-operation with the responsible ministries and administrations in the DRC.
